Save the date to defibrillate

23rd February 2017

Sevenoaks District residents will have the chance to learn life-saving skills for free with a session giving defibrillator and first aid training.

Sevenoaks District Council has organised the training session which will take place on Saturday 25 March from 9.30am to 12.30pm at the Council offices on Argyle Road, Sevenoaks.

The session will be delivered by the Sevenoaks Community First Responders and provide basic everyday first aid training on CPR, choking, allergic reactions and diabetic emergencies.
It will also give residents training on how to use an Automated External Defibrillator, with over 60 of them being installed across the District.

Cllr Michelle Lowe, Sevenoaks District Cabinet Member for Health and Leisure, says: “I knew someone that died who would have lived if there was a defibrillator nearby, so I know from personal experience how important this equipment and training is.
“In an emergency situation, immediate response can be the difference between life and death, so training on apparatus such as the defibrillators is an important opportunity.
“Not only this, but it will equip participants with the basic skills necessary to deal with day-to-day accidents and medical encounters”.

Places can be reserved free of charge by calling Sevenoaks District Council on 01732 227000 or emailing healthyliving@sevenoaks.gov.uk

Residents are encouraged to ensure they are available on the day before reserving, as a cancellation fee of £30 will apply if a space is not attended.
